Open thread reminder: It’s moved!

Don’t forget: The Horde open threads are now being hosted by anibundel. Click here to get to her site; click here to learn why. See you there!

Moving day for the open threads.

thread 2Over the past couple of years, I’ve run occasional open threads on days that The Atlantic’s Ta-Nehisi Coates was unavailable to open one at his place; in recent months, this has become more and more frequent, and over the last several weeks, it’s been pretty much every day. I have the sneaking suspicion that Ta-Nehisi has seen that his commenters are taking care of themselves, and so has allowed himself to let the daily (or frequent) open thread simply drop from his lineup. Whenever I’ve been unavailable, anibundel has caught us and given us shelter.

At the same time however, (most of) the Horde has found its own solution to the lack of regular TNC open threads by successfully gathering on Facebook, where they now spend most of their hanging-out-with-Horde-friends time.

Of course, a handful of us are not on FB, so I’ve kept the open threads going for them/us (I do have a faux FB identity so that I can see at people’s photos or read FB activist manifestos or what-have-you, but I’m not really “on” Facebook and have no desire to be). HOWEVER: anibundel is on Facebook, and very happily so!

And thus, ani and I have reached a decision: The open threads will move to her place, starting today.

I see a real value in keeping OTs running for those who still want them (like me!), but it simply makes more sense to have them in the hands of someone who is actually in daily contact with the rest of the Horde.

So ani and I will switch roles: She will host open threads when none are forthcoming at TNC’s place, and when/if she’s unavailable, I will catch us and give us shelter.

And of course, I’ll see you there!

xoxo,
ellaesther

New Year’s Day open thread.

Because I’m at my desk anyway, so why not open a new one?

New Year’s Eve/Day open thread.

For those who have threads to tie up on this, the oldest/newest day of the year!

Standard FYI clause: I generally wait about 2 hours after Ta-Nehisi would typically open a thread (roughly noon, EST, back when such a thing was typical…!), and if none is forthcoming, I put one up here.

Friday open thread.

It’s yours….

For the masses of hordes of Golden Black Republicans and Commies ™ – open thread.

Here’s a thread. It’s open! Whooo hooo! (BTW: All are welcome, whether you hang out at Ta-Nehisi Coates’s blog at The Atlantic or not. We’re nice, I promise. We just have weird names for ourselves).

Standard FYI clause: My rule of thumb is that I wait for 2 hours after Ta-Nehisi would usually open a thread (roughly noon, EST), and if none is forthcoming, I put one up here.

I’m so confused! Open Thread

Ok, so Ta-Nehisi is clearly blogging up a storm and even though the time stamps indicate pre-scheduling, he’s interacting in comments, so he’s genuinely AROUND, but no open thread! And when I asked on Twitter – no reply!

So what the hell. Open thread, for those who may be in need, until TNC gets around to it.

Standard FYI clause: My rule of thumb is that I wait for 2 hours after Ta-Nehisi would usually open a thread (roughly noon, EST), and if none is forthcoming, I put one up here.

You need, we provide – an open thread.

You know the drill! The Khan appears to be out on the steppe, leaving the Golden Horde to fend for itself in matters conversating. And so fend we shall!

One note: I’ll be at my desk only intermittently this afternoon. If you’re new here and your first comment gets sent to moderation (or if you make that most frequent of errors and use a different user name all of a sudden), I promise to get you out as soon as I can!

The I-can’t-tell-if-there’s-a-there-there open thread.

Ta-Nehisi posted something at the utterly baffling hour of 1:17 EST today. What are his most dedicated stalkers – erm, fans, to make of that? But there’s still no open thread, and he hasn’t responded to a query on Twitter, so what the hey. If he shows up right after I throw open the student lounge, them’s the breaks.

Student lounge: OPEN.

Standard FYI clause: My general rule of thumb is that I wait two hours after Ta-Nehisi would usually open a thread (roughly noon, EST), and if none is forthcoming, I put one up here.

Surprise! It’s an open thread!

Well, once again Ta-Nehisi has gone on with his life and/or career without consulting his commenters about how his day is to be spent. Really, dude, would it kill you to ask?

Thank heavens someone is thinking of the commenters! Open Thread, should you need such a thing. (Oh, and efgoldman made me re-key something yesterday, the monster. You might want to read it, just to make all the suffering worth it).

Standard FYI clause: My general rule of thumb is that I wait two hours after Ta-Nehisi would usually open a thread (roughly noon, EST), and if none is forthcoming, I put one up here. (Today, right smack on 2:00 EST, he put up a Tebow post, so I held off a little).
